Tips for using concrete pump

Sep. 27, 2024

(1) Operators and relevant equipment management personnel should carefully read the instruction manual to master its structural principles, use and maintenance, and relevant knowledge of pumping concrete; when using and operating the concrete pump, they should strictly follow the instruction manual. Because it takes a process for operators to fully master the mechanical properties, the instruction manual should be provided with the machine. At the same time, special operating points should be formulated according to the instruction manual to effectively control some variable factors in the pumping technology, such as pump position, pipeline layout, etc.

(2) The ground supporting the concrete pump should be flat and solid; the whole machine should be placed horizontally and should not tilt during operation. The legs should be able to stably support the whole machine and be reliably locked or fixed. The location of the pump should not only facilitate the entry and exit of the concrete mixer truck and the feeding of the hopper, but also be conducive to pumping pipe layout and reduce pumping pressure loss. At the same time, it is required to be close to the pouring site and convenient for power and water supply.

Tips for using concrete pump

(3) Piping should be carried out according to the characteristics of the construction site and the concrete pouring plan. When designing the piping, it is necessary to check whether the horizontal conversion distance of the pipeline is compatible with the pumping distance of the concrete pump. When piping, the length of the pipeline should be shortened as much as possible, and elbows and hoses should be used as little as possible. The laying of the delivery pipe should facilitate pipe cleaning, troubleshooting, and disassembly and maintenance. When new pipes and old pipes are mixed, the new pipes should be placed at the place where the pumping pressure is higher. During the piping process, a pipe layout diagram should be drawn, and the specifications and quantities of various pipe fittings, pipe clamps, elbows and hoses should be listed, and a list should be provided.

(4) When piping is required vertically upward, as the height increases, that is, the potential energy increases, the concrete tends to flow back. Therefore, a certain length of horizontal pipe should be laid between the concrete pump and the vertical piping to ensure that there is sufficient resistance to prevent concrete backflow. When pumping high-rise building concrete, vertical piping is required. At this time, the length of the horizontal pipe on the ground should not be less than 1/4 of the length of the vertical pipe. If the water pipe of the required length cannot be placed due to site limitations, an elbow or hose can be used instead.

(5) During the concrete pumping process, as the pumping pressure increases, the pumping impact force will force the pipe to move back and forth, which not only consumes the pumping pressure, but also puts the connection between the pump pipe in a state of impact and intermittent tension, which may cause premature damage to the pipe clamp and rubber ring and cement slurry overflow. Therefore, the pump must be fixed.

(6) After the concrete pump is connected to the delivery pipe, it should be fully inspected according to the provisions of the concrete pump instruction manual. Only when it meets the requirements can it be started for idling. After running idling for 10 minutes, check whether each mechanism or system is working normally.

(7) When constructing in hot seasons, it is advisable to cover the concrete delivery pipe with wet straw bags, wet cover cloths, etc. to avoid direct sunlight exposure, which can prevent the concrete from slumping and causing pipe blockage due to excessive loss of slump.

(8) When concrete pumping construction is carried out in winter in cold areas, appropriate insulation measures should be taken. It is advisable to wrap the concrete delivery pipe with insulation materials to prevent the concrete in the pipe from freezing.
